Hi, my name is Derick Swanepoel and I welcome you to tranquility.za.net, home of my blog.

A special welcome to all who have been waiting patiently for me to publish the photographs of my trip to Korea and China :) You can take a look at them on the Image Galleries page. They are available in medium resolution (800x533) and high resolution (1200x800). Please contact me if you would like copies of the original very high resolution photographs.

My fascinating visit to Seoul and Beijing offered me a wonderful opportunity to put my new camera (a Canon 350D) through its paces. This is my first SLR camera and although I'm personally very pleased with the results, please don't expect them to be professional quality pictures ;) I'm only starting to explore this passion of mine, and it's one of the primary reasons for the existence of this website.

tranquility.za.net is also very much a work in progress. If you have any trouble using the image gallery, for example, please let me know. In due time I intend to add some more features such as feedback and ratings.
